Forbes’s Kite Leptodon forbesi
NE Brazil

Grey-headed Kite Leptodon cayanensis
Central and South America

ABOUT THE BIRDS Forbes’s Kite has only been recorded from a tiny area of Brazilian rainforest. For many years, it was known only by a single museum specimen, which was used as a model for this black-and-white illustration comparing this extremely rare species with the closely related and much more widespread Grey-headed Kite (in colour on plate 13).
