ABOUT THE BIRDS Chanting-goshawks are so named because of their repetitive, loud and melodious mating calls. All three species become largely silent after the breeding season. They live mainly in areas of dry thornbush, where lizards and snakes feature in their diet.

The Gabar Goshawk hunts birds, including some that exceed its own weight. Most prey is flown down in a fast chase, although chicks are often taken from nests of colonial weavers.
